Experience Botanical Beauties at the Florida Botanical Gardens

From our signature palm trees to native plants of all colors, Florida is home to hundreds of botanical beauties—and you can see many of them in a single day at Largo’s Florida Botanical Gardens.

Located only a few miles away from Indian Rock Beach, the Florida Botanical Gardens are free to the public and run and maintained by Pinellas Country’s Parks and Conservation resources. Spread over 100 acres, the gardens include an impressive array of flowers and plants that showcase Florida’s natural beauty and give visitors and locals alike a chance to enjoy and explore the outdoors.

What Can You See at the Florida Botanical Gardens?

The Florida Botanical Gardens is divided into several segments. This allows visitors to enjoy the sights and smells of one garden, then move onto something completely different only a few steps away. Whatever your favorite flower is, the Florida Botanical Gardens has something for you. Fans of prickly plants can view agave and desert roses cacti in the succulent garden, while a rose garden is the perfect place for a romantic date. Other areas include a palm garden, a vinery, a tropical fruit garden, and a wetlands boardwalk. While areas like the wetlands boardwalk focus on Florida, others—like the tropical walk or the herb garden—include plants from Australia, Japan, and all around the world.

Young visitors in particular will enjoy the butterfly garden, which is home year-round to colorful butterflies. The Florida Botanical Gardens also host events that will appeal to people of all ages, ranging from gift and plant sales to local craft beer nights for adult guests. Starting in November, the gardens also feature a holiday lights celebration, complete with whimsical LED lights, laser shows, and fun seasonal exhibits. Admission fees may be included for special events at the Florida Botanical Gardens, so be sure to check out their events calendar for more details.
