Crab Legs, Grouper, and More at Cooter’s on Clearwater Beach

It’s not a trip to Florida without seafood! The Tampa Bay area is home to dozens of amazing restaurants, but if you want the true Florida experience of pairing delicious, fresh seafood with a day on the water, Cooter’s Restaurant and Bar on Clearwater Beach is the place to go.

Established in 1993, Cooter’s sits right in the heart of Clearwater Beach, within walking distance from other popular spots like Pier 60 and the Clearwater Beach Marina. When you’re ready for a break after tanning in the soft sand or playing in the Gulf of Mexico, Cooter’s is a perfect—and convenient—spot to grab lunch, dinner, or drinks.

Seafood is front-and-center on the menu at Cooter’s. Visitors can kick off their meal with a traditional seafood-based appetizer like crispy calamari or oysters on the half-shell, or can enjoy creative cuisine like buffalo shrimp or crab stuffed mushrooms. If you really want to get into the Floridian spirit, Cooter’s even offers blackened or fried gator bites. If you’re not a seafood fan, Cooter’s is also well-known for its chicken wings, with a variety of sauces sure to please any palate, whether you like it spicy or mild.

If you don’t fill up on their unique appetizers, Cooter’s welcomes you to try out their super grouper sandwich, which has been called “the best on the beach.” They also offer a grouper melt and grouper tacos. Other classics, like fish tacos, a shrimp and scallop pasta, and mahi mahi, make appearances on the menu as well.

If you’re really hungry, don’t miss out on Mondays and Tuesdays when Cooter’s features their crab leg special. On these days, enjoy a one-and-a-half pound serving of steamed crab legs with butter, bread, and a choice of two sides. On Wednesdays, feast on all-you-can-eat fish and chips, made with fried pollock, or stop by for “Super Grouper” Thursday for great deals on Cooter’s famous grouper dishes, like the grouper and shrimp basket, the grouper reuben, and of course, their grouper sandwich.

Cooter’s knows that a refreshing drink is a great way to cool down while exploring Clearwater Beach, and their happy hour is every day from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Enjoy chilled beer or one of their signature cocktails while taking a break from the sun and waves, or while planning your next exciting beach adventure.

With great seafood, a friendly atmosphere, and proximity to all Clearwater Beach has to offer, Cooter’s Restaurant and Bar is a can’t-miss during your trip to the beach. Located at 423 Poinsettia Avenue, the restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, starting every day at 11:00 AM. They do not take reservations, and parties are seated on a first come, first serve basis.
