Fun for the Whole Family

Our lovely, historic, stand-alone, quaint cottages, complete with their old-fashioned porches, may seem to be from another era; that’s because they are! Sunshine Cozy Cottages consist of 14 unique cottages that date back to pre-WW II, ca. 1930.

Originally built at MacDill Air force Base in Tampa as officers’ quarters, the cottages remained on the military base through the 2nd World War and were eventually brought down to Indian Rocks Beach by barge around 1945. The cottages, originally named “Coral Beach Court”, became one of the first resorts on the beach and today remain one of the few original properties that started the Gulf Beach trend.

During the 1950s, radio and television star, Arthur Godfrey, broadcast his radio show from the cottages and many big band era personalities such as the McGuire Sisters would stay and perform at our cottages.

Many years later a two-lane road was built between Sunshine Cozy Cottages and the beach. Today you can still view the Gulf of Mexico from the private porch of several of the cottages while your children play securely in our large grassy courtyard.

Our cozy, yet spacious cottages, each have 1 or 2 bedrooms, full living room, bath and full kitchen stocked with utensils, pots, pans and dishes. We supply linens and towels and an on-site laundry facility.

By taking a few minutes walk (approximately 300 feet) to the beach, you can save a lot of money to spend on things other than your accommodations. And for those couples that have dreamed about having a beach wedding, what could be better than having your wedding party, family and friends all staying in their own cottages, next to each other? You can make it an affordable and fun-filled event at Sunshine Cozy Cottages.
